"Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory."
– Dr. Seuss
We are happy to answer all your questions personally, but you will find the answers

We are not a large, commercial business: with Sugar Fairy Creations, you are experiencing exclusive, bespoke design, consultation, and artistry. Every single cake is individually baked with the finest of ingredients to ensure the most delicious flavors. There are no assistants or interns - Zoё solely handles your entire order and will personally be the only artist creating your cake from creaming the European butter to sprinkling the last real gold flake. She will work directly with you to bring your vision to magical reality. Your cake will be stunning and unique, unlike any other on the market.
Yes! We LOVE this kind of thing, and it's what Sugar Fairy Creations is all about. Do you want us to base your cake on your grandmother's recipe? We can do that. Do you have a childhood memory of a candy that you loved? Zoё will do the research and testing to turn it into a delectable filling. Obviously, these special requests take more time than our tried-and-true offerings, so they won't be possible for every order, but this enthusiasm and personal significance is at the heart of our family business.
Sugar Fairy Creations offers a bespoke, individual experience. We do not mass-produce cakes, and each is custom designed, working directly with clients at every stage. Yes, we could churn out pre-designed cakes to make much more money, but that loses the soul of edible art. You are going to Sugar Fairy Creations for a cake to celebrate an important event in your life, and we understand the special significance of that. We will only accept orders if Zoё can genuinely give them the time and attention that they deserve.
A one-week turnaround is not realistic for our business. We can point you in the direction of some wonderful commercial bakeries in Houston that could give you a short turnaround, but the custom nature of Sugar Fairy Creations means that we ask for at least 4-6 weeks in advance for planning, design, material purchase, creation, drying time, etc. Occasionally, we have a few openings in which a two-week window might work, but please do not rely upon that. Plan ahead to avoid disappointment.

Yes! If you can dream it, we can figure out a way to do it - that's half the fun! Zoё can carve cakes into custom shapes and cover them in either fondant or buttercream, depending on your design and preference. Details and options will be discussed in your consultation.
Yes! We are currently taste-testing options for truly delicious vegan and gluten-free cakes. The plant-based/health industry has come a long way in recent years, and we know that there is room for improvement in the vegan and gluten-free recipes we currently use. It's a tall order, but our goal is to create special-diet cakes that are as light and mouth-watering as our regular cakes. Check back for developments.
If you are doing your best to minimize sugar, we could design a stunning "naked" cake with a fruit or stevia-based filling. We have yet to find a sugar-free option that is worthy of the Sugar Fairy Creations name. Let's be honest, "sugar" literally IS our name, and - in terms of chemistry - it's necessary to create the rise in our cakes. We know that sugar isn't the healthiest food option out there, and we don't recommend eating our cakes on a daily basis (even we don't do that), but as an occasional treat in moderation, we are worth it!
We can do that in theory, and every effort is made to sanitize the space and tools that are used to make your cake. Having said that, all of our cakes are made in a home kitchen. Our family eats pretty much everything, including nuts, soy, dairy, and other known allergens. If you need a special cake because of a severe allergy, we would not be the best option for you.
What we typically recommend is that we make you a fabulous topper or toppers for a beautiful visual appeal, and then you go to a bakery that is experienced in allergies for the cake. If you are interested in this, feel free to contact us, and we would be happy to recommend some suitable bakeries for you. Don't let food allergies stop you from having your dream cake!
No, Sugar Fairy Creations currently focuses on celebration cakes, as opposed to cakes to serve hundreds of people, because we simply do not have the space to accommodate those enormous tiers. For clients who are hosting larger parties and events, there are wonderful, exciting options that we can offer without needing XL commercial ovens and walk-in fridges. Contact us to discuss them!
We do not ship cakes for several reasons: 1) We only use the freshest ingredients, including European butter, and those fresh ingredients rarely withstand the stresses of shipping well enough to arrive in perfect condition, which would be unacceptable to us. 2) We simply are not willing to take the risk and stress that the cakes would arrive in anything other than perfect condition. 3) Because we are a home-based company, we operate under Texas cottage food laws, which do not permit us to mail products.
Absolutely - "fairy cakes" is one of our name's inspirations, after all! Cupcakes are becoming more popular by the minute for large events. We can put just as much effort and artistry into creating stunning custom designs for you, and you have none of the hassle, time, or fees* of cutting up a cake, so you can simply enjoy your special moment. This option also gives you the opportunity to offer a wider range of flavors or dietary accommodations to your guests, which is always a crowd pleaser. Hosting a family friendly event? Consider adding cupcakes to your order to complement the theme of your larger cake, so you can quickly serve impatient little ones with kid-approved flavors.
*Most venues charge a cake-cutting fee, which you avoid with the cupcake route.
Yes, we deliver within a 1-hour radius of our location in West Houston, or further under special circumstances. For cakes over two tiers, we require delivery, because the cake must be assembled onsite. Delivery charges start at $50 and can be discussed further in your consultation.
Yes, for most one- and two-tier cakes, careful customer pickup is just fine. Cakes come with sturdy bases for ease of moving them, and are fully enclosed in boxes for transportation (with a few unusual exceptions). We give you instructions for how to travel with your cake and how to store the cake once it's onsite.
We currently take payment through Zelle, PayPal, and of course cash. We do not accept checks or credit cards.
"When the first baby laughed for the first time, its laugh broke into a thousand pieces, and they all went skipping about. That was the beginning of fairies."
– J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan
